This is one of a number of reviews of the 1849 Tithe Registers, which look at the village layout and tenancies at that time, contrasting with the next main checkpoint of the 1918 Auction. The review is based on the tithe-holder name, looking at the various plots that make up their tithe commitment. The blue dots on the various tithe areas highlight the allocated tithes. See here for an index to the other tithe records in a similar format.

At this stage Kings Newnham Lodge didn’t appear to be established, but Elizabeth Nicholls was living at the Wells Cottage towards the border with Little Lawford. The remaining villagers were together in the central area as shown colour codes on the charts and map below. Additionally William Townsend was allocated land near the river bridge – Tithe 993 with the orange dot. Tithe 1120, below 1119, was the cottage of William West. For details on Joseph Line Junior see the Church Lawford Tithe information here.

Additionally George Worth (1123/4), Harry Brierly (1117) and Henry Townsend (1125) had properties in the central village. The other property on the map is 1114, the John Farmer smallholding.
