During the period from 2014 to 2018 the village remembered events of the Great War (1914 to 1918) that took place 100 years earlier. In particular the village bellringers staged a tribute to each of the villagers who were lost in that conflict, with a peal of bells of the 100th anniversary of their passing – details here.
In November 2018 there was a special event staged at St Peters, with recollections from the time of the Great War, and a floral tribute in a church window to each of the men that lost their lives in that conflict. A number of villagers had knitted poppies to display in the church on this occasion.
