Liz Parvin in her 2014 Village Newsletter history of Kings Newnham notes that at the time of the 1918 village sale Highfield House was occupied by the Misses Townsend who were the generous donors of the money to build the original Church Lawford Reading Room. Although they based themselves at Church Walk in Rugby during the early 20th Century, they still had an interest in Highfields House in 1938 when both Highfields and Manor House farms, and several cottages, were up for sale for the second time in 20 years.
Further history of Highfield House will be added on this page, but for more information and a family tree of the Worth Townsend family see here.
