With a dominant view over the Avon Valley, Kings Newnham Lodge can be seen from many vantage points. The position meant it was the home to the local Gamekeeper, which for many years in the Nineteenth Century was Thomas Rose, who followed in his father’s footsteps of working for the Duke of Buccleuch who was a woodman for the Estate. The Keeper’s Lodge was one of the lots in the 1918 village auction, by which time Arthur Beasley was the tenant of the smallholding.

Following the auction the property changed hands several times, moving away from its original purpose once there was no longer any estate responsibilities.
