The Diamond Jubilee celebration to mark 60 years of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II was held on the 2nd-5th June 2012 in the United Kingdom. The actual jubilee day was 6th February 2012, as the accession of the Queen was on 6th February 1952, but the commemoration was held over to summer months.

The village magazine detailed some of the events planned for the two villages.

Kate Jackson then posted a vote of thanks in a subsequent newsletter

Diamond Jubilee Celebration

Members of the Fete Committee commenced planning a celebratory event for 2012 over a year ago, hoping to create an opportunity for the members of the Parish to join together as one, recognising that it takes more than just buildings to form a community.

So I would like to express a huge thank you to everyone who helped make our celebrations such a success; planning, setting up, participating and clearing up at the end of the day. Over 100 people packed the Village Hall on a rather wet afternoon, but in true British fashion, the rain didn’t dampen our spirits! There were many visitors from both far (USA and France) and near, including residents returning to share their memories of the parish with us,

The children participated in a revised mini indoor Olympics, there was an abundance of tasty food, and a joyous atmosphere ensued. Vi Mallinson completed the planting of the commemorative tree and the aerial photograph of the villages was signed by all, and will be displayed within the Village Hall.
