The 1909 Village Magazine recorded the annual Choir Outing from the village.

The choir outing on August 19 was a great success. Every member of the Choir, great and small, was seized with a longing for the sea. Accordingly, Hunstanton was chosen as the place to be honoured by our visit. Soon after 4.30 a.m. all were seated in the brakes, and the hoped for journey had begun. Who shall describe the joy of the party as the train steamed out of Rugby Station? What two-foot rule could take the measure of their faces when Wisbech was passed, and the rain was falling thick and steady? But when Hunstanton was reached all signs of rain had vanished, and the weather throughout the day was perfect. The only trouble was to find dinner. No sooner did refreshment-room keepers see Church Lawford boys and girls before them, than they shook their heads; they did not think they could satisfy such appetites! Yet even this difficulty was overcome by the efforts of Miss A. Townsend, and an excellent meal was provided. Each spent the day according to his or her inclination. Boys bathed, girls paddled; both rode ponies; all went to the top of the lighthouse, and found amusement in many other ways. When the weary band found themselves at Church Lawford in the first hour of Friday morning, they all felt that they had spent a most enjoyable holiday.
