This was the first directory to incorporate the Airey Houses, shown at the end as the block of 12 houses in “Newnham Lane”. Somewhat confusingly, the original Council House numbers are also used for Newnham Lane in the main body of the directory. At this stage in the post-war recovery the Airey Houses had started to be occupied in late 1949, but weren’t yet reflected in this version of the directory. Note that the properties that are located in the current Coronation Rd are renumbered in the opposite direction in a row called “Pleasant View”. Read more
