The Coventry Evening Telegraph reported on the 1918 Estate Sale with details of the various transactions.
SALE OF PROPERTY OF THE DUKE OR BUCCLEUCH.
A feature of the first day’s sale at Rugby of 4,550 acres, comprising part of the estate formerly owned by the Duke of Buccleuch, was the number of farms that were purchased by their present tenants.
The Dunchurch estate of the Duke of Buccleuch, comprising some 7,500 acres, and including five villages and about 50 farms, was purchased by Mr. H. L. Waring last autumn, Mr. Waring is disposing of 4,550 acres of it, including 18 farms and the villages of Church Lawford and Kings Newnham.

The auctioneer said he believed some people thought the Duke of Buccleuch was a very unkind person to have sold the estate as a whole. He did not hold a brief for the Duke, but they could be pretty well sure that for the last twenty years any money that had been paid by way of rent had probably been put back into the estate in the way of buildings, and the tenants had had the benefit of it. The mineral rights were sold with the properties.
Further details of the ownership of various village cottages are discussed here, and details of subsequent sales are here. An insight into how the village looked following the sale is also suggested here.
