1850 Gazetteer of Warwickshire

Notable in this directory is the background on the original church, as well as detail of the Village Post Office. This would have been published before the discovery of the Leigh family graves in the Cemetery.

1871/72 – Imperial Gazetteer

The Imperial Gazetteer covered the whole of England and Wales. Notable in this outline is the reference to the Post Office in the village, and the reference to the rail station at Stretton-under-Fosse – what became known in later years as Brinklow Station.

1874 White’s Directory

The 1874 White’s Directory is from just a few years later, with more details on Village history, the St Laurence graves and the village geology.

1896 Kelly’s Directory – Kings Newnham

The well respected Kelly’s Directory was published several times during the nineteenth century. This 1896 version gives a good insight into the village ahead of the major changes that came in the first 20 years of the next century.
